Clay is a versatile material that, due to its plasticity, allows us to create and develop different types of objects. In addition to kitchen utilitarian pottery, jewelry experiments and sculptural-functional pieces such as vases, I also produced lamp shades in collaboration with design studios in New York - In Common With* & Malka Dina Ceramics.
“Sculptural objects that can be displayed and appreciated even when not turned on”
The whole process is completely handmade, using traditional ceramics techniques as hand-build, slab, wheel and also slip casting molds - a process that uses a form of clay that is liquid. The liquid clay gets poured into a plaster mold, As the time progresses with the slip in the mold, the plaster draws out liquid from the slip. This leaves a clay wall against the inside of the plaster mold.
This technique is often used for a high production or to achieve perfect shapes repeatedly…
